Developed to raise awareness of the Black voices writing for young readers. The flagship initiative called 28 Days Later is a month-long showcase of the best in Picture Books, Middle Grade, and Young Adult novels written and illustrated by Black creators.
Focuses on the portrayal of disability in middle grade and young adult literature and includes articles, reviews, interviews, and discussions examining this topic from various angles—and always from the disabled perspective.
A collection of thousands of children's picture books featuring Black and Indigenous people and People of Color (BIPOC), published and distributed in the U.S. since 2002
Every two years the IBBY National Sections nominate books for young people with disabilities to be added to the collection. The collection also focuses on including books that are available in accessible formats so that children can read independently. Not all books will be in English.
This award acknowledges outstanding juvenile books re-published in the United States from the original works created in other countries around the world.
Organized by a non-profit and a grassroots organization of children’s book lovers that advocates essential changes in the publishing industry to produce and promote literature that reflects and honors the lives of all young people.
