This selective guide identifies major sources of statistical data for both K-12 and higher education. Many of these reports are produced by the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) and pull data from NCES surveys, U.S. Census data, and other data produced by government or private agencies.

- Ohio School Report Cards - Data DownloadsData going back to 2005-2006 school year is available for all schools and districts in Microsoft Excel format.
National Education Data Sets
To use these data sets, you'll need to download the file and upload to statistical analysis software. Please see me with questions.
- Common Core of DataComprehensive annual statistics covering all U.S. public elementary and secondary schools and school districts. Includes a build-a-table feature.
- Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS)Data on enrollment, program completions, finances, and institutional characteristics for public and private postsecondary institutions from the mid 1960s through the mid 1980s.
- Integrated Postsecondary Education Data SystemInstitution-level data on enrollment, program completions, faculty, staff, and finances for public and private postsecondary institutions from the late 1980s to present.
- School District DemographicsGeographic and demographic data from school districts. Includes a data mapping feature.
- Schools and StaffingFour core annual surveys covering schools, teachers, principals, and school districts.

- National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)Provides periodic national assessments of achievement by subject area for various populations of students (e.g. fourth graders).
