APA Style

The most common citation style in the social sciences is that of the American Psychological Association.  The basic citation forms are:

Academic Journal Article

Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), pages.


Wimmer, A., & Min, B. (2006). From empire to nation-state: Explaning wars in the modern world, 1816-2001. American Sociological Review, 71(6), 867-897.



Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Location: Publisher.


Durkheim, E. (2006). On suicide. London: Penguin.
