Grant Writing For Library Staff

Libraries staff have the opportunity to apply for a DEI Grant of up to $1,500. Grants are provided on behalf of the Libraries’ DEI Committee. All Libraries staff are invited to submit a proposal, including staff at the Regional campuses.

The Center for Teaching Excellence offers two types of grants. These grants encourage curricular and pedagogical innovations that will result in more engaged and improved student learning. Innovations may be at the course, department, program, division, and/or university levels.

The MIAMI Women Giving Circle is a collective giving effort that allows participants to combine resources with other members and make a greater impact on the Miami community. The collective power of each member’s annual $1,000 gift creates a large pool of money that funds multiple, vital projects.

Students, Faculty, and Staff: Request funding for a student organization or department initiative, undergraduate student experiences (abroad, internships, etc.), or faculty-student discourse in an out-of-class setting. Deadlines are available on the application. For individual grants, financial need is taken into account.

A pool of funds from the Student Technology Fee has been created to stimulate the development of innovative student-focused technology projects on the Oxford campus. The Student Technology Fee funds programs and services that support students in achieving their academic program goals and enhancing their life at Miami.

Any student, faculty member, staff member, group, or department on the Oxford campus may submit a proposal. Proposals must be submitted in accordance with the approved tech fee guidelines for expenditures.

Faculty research grants feature a flexible budget model to provide support for categories including salary, fringe benefits, tuition remission, travel, participant costs, materials and supplies, consultant services, computer services, and equipment or facility rental or user fees. Support can be requested in as many or as few categories as needed. The average award size to an individual investigator will be approximately $25,000 and the average award size to a collaborative team will be approximately $50,000. It is understood that research costs vary widely between disciplines. Thus, for individual investigator awards, it is expected that some will be less than $25,000 while others will be significantly higher. Applicants are encouraged to assemble a budget that will appropriately support the proposed research. The expected term for most awards will be 1 year.
