Why do we need to evaluate? The internet contains such a large amount of information that it is important to carefully evaluate resources to see if they meet your research needs. After completing this checklist, you can make a determination about whether you want to use a particular website.
CURRENCY
Is the information dated and is the date appropriate for your topic?
When was the page written or updated? Is the information current enough for your topic?
RELIABILITY
Is the information something you can trust?
Are there references that tell you where the information comes from? Are the reference reliable? Who published the information on the internet?
AUTHORITY
Who is providing this information?
Who wrote the page? Is the author or organization an expert on the subject?
PURPOSE AND POINT OF VIEW
Why is this information on the internet?
Why is this information on the web? Is the content primarily opinion? What is the domain extension of the website and does it influence the purpose? Who is the intended audience?
