Professional Development Guide for Classified Staff

How To Get Opportunities With Library Funding Approved

  • Classified Staff have a pool of funds which can be drawn on by all classified staff that would like to participate in professional development. Some opportunities in the Job Enrichment Program are free. Some have costs associated with them. There are also Classified Staff Resources available outside the JEP program that may be eligible for Professional Development funds.

  • The amount of money available can vary from year to year at the Dean’s discretion.

  • Supervisors can see what is available from this fund on the Professional Development Workbook

  • When you choose an opportunity, contact your supervisor or department head for approval.

    • Please use a copy of the Professional Development Approval Form to send to your supervisor. It lists all the usual questions that need to be answered. By creating a copy and sharing it with your supervisor they will have all the relevant information.

  • If there is a cost associated with the opportunity, your supervisor will put it on the Professional Development Workbook or request someone from the Dean’s Suite to enter it. Then, when you request the PCard to pay for the opportunity, it will be known that the opportunity is approved.
