Professional Development Guide for Librarians

How Does PD Funding Work

Professional development funds are awarded annually at the discretion of the Dean and can vary from year to year. The amount can also vary depending on if the awardee is probationary or continuing contract. This amount should be communicated to you by your supervisor or department head at the beginning of the fiscal year beginning July 1st.

Amount available is visible on the Professional Development Workbook linked at the bottom of the page

When you choose which opportunities you would like to pursue, contact your supervisor or department head for approval.

  • Please use a copy of the Professional Development Approval Form to send to your supervisor. It lists all the usual questions that need to be answered. By creating a copy and sharing it with your supervisor they will have all the relevant information.

Your supervisor will put the opportunity on the Professional Development Workbook on approval so that the Dean’s Suite (Lissa or Donna) knows it is approved when you request the PCard to pay for the registration.

Please refer to How Can You Use Your Professional Development Funds for how to use your funds and what is paid up front versus what is reimbursed. The link is at the bottom of the page.
