Using SimplyAnalytics: Comparison Table, Ranking, and Quick Reports

This guide will help you find and interpret the data in SimplyAnalytics.

This page will guide you on how to change the view or create a different report in SimplyAnalytics and understand what you are seeing. You can jump to different sections from here. 

Introduction

The map is the default view in SimplyAnalytics. However, there are many other useful data visualization tools that are built into the platform that you can easily generate once you've selected your data variables. 

Use the menu on the right side to open different views.

Comparison Table

The comparison table lets you quickly compare locations to each other by any variable you choose.

Step One

To edit this view, click on "View Actions">"Edit View">make your selections>"Done"

Step Two

In the example below I added Bloomington, IN to my table, and took off educational attainment and people who purchased a coffee maker in the past 12 months.

The comparison table now looks like this:

Quick Report

The Quick Report will show you key data points in 2 or more locations. The default view is a Demographic Overview. We also subscribe to Housing Detail and PRIZM Reports. 

You must have at least 2 locations selected for this report to generate.

You can add more locations by clicking View Actions>Edit View>make selections>Done.

Ranking table

A ranking table allows you to see the top 10-10,000 locations (in this case, locations means things like zip codes, census tracts, counties, etc.) and data variables associated with them based on a particular place that you choose (can be a city, a radius map, a state, etc).

The default view looks like this in our example.

Note: your drop down defaults may look different depending on the location you selected. Pay attention to these dropdowns because they will allow to you customize this view.

Step One

To edit your ranking table, go to View Actions>Edit View>make your selections>Done. For a ranking table, you can only have 1 location selected.

Step Two

Once you have made your choices and sorted the dropdown menus, your table can look something like this:

New View +

This area is easy to overlook but worth exploring! The first results are the basic reports discussed above, however, if you scroll down you will see that you can create time series tables, histograms, scatter plots, and bar charts with the data available in SimplyAnalytics. 

Click on the New View + button. Any view that you create will appear underneath the Businesses report on the right side menu.
