About the Makerspace

Welcome to the Makerspace, a hands-on, highly collaborative, and experiential learning space located on the third floor of King Library.  The Makerspace features a variety of maker equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutter/engravers, a direct-to-garment printer, sewing/embroidery machines, digital cutters, and more.

Why the Library?

The Miami University Libraries vision statement is: “We ignite the spark of learning in every student, creating a lifetime of curiosity and accomplishment.” Maker-centered learning is increasingly being adopted in higher education as an engaging, multidisciplinary, and experiential way of learning. One of the great benefits of makerspaces, especially in the neutral space of the campus library, is the opportunity for transdisciplinary collaboration. Students of all majors and backgrounds can ignite the spark of learning through making and learning activities in ways that they may not get to in their normal courses.

How to use the Makerspace

1. Sign a Makerspace Liability Waiver (available in the Makerspace).

2. Make an appointment to use a machine: https://muohio.libcal.com/reserve/equipment/makerspace
