How to find and use data from ICPSR

What is ICPSR?

About ICPSR

ICPSR is the Inter-University Consortium for Political  and Social Research. As a consortium, it is an organization of more than 750 member institutions that provides leadership and training in data access, curation, and methods of analysis for social science research. Educational activities include a yearly Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research.

ICPSR also maintains a data archive of more than 250,000 files of research. This is the world's largest accessible archive of social science data. The data covers sociology, political science, history, and economics, with special emphases in gerontology, substance abuse and mental health, criminal justice, child care, health and medical care, education, and demography.

These data files include not just summaries and timeseries data, but also raw data such as individual survey responses, allowing you to analyze the data for additional information.

Miami University Libraries has an institutional membership in ICPSR, giving you the opportunity to download and use this data in your research.

ICPSR has a YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/ICPSRWeb
