ICPSR - Social Research Data: Cite Data

How to find and use data from ICPSR

Cite Data

Cite Data

Data used in your research should always be cited

  • It validates your work
  • It lets others explore and extend your research
  • It rewards data producers so that useful data will continue to be shared in the future

Include the following when citing data

  1. Name of dataset
  2. Principal Investigators or Authors of data
  3. Date of data
  4. Version of data
  5. Publisher or Archiver of data
  6. Permanent URL linking to actual data (not repository). By including the DOI or other permanent, direct URL, you make it easier for researchers to connect with your data.
