Using the Proxy Prefix
This is the proxy prefix for Miami University Libraries:
https://proxy.lib.miamioh.edu/login?url=
To create a link to a library-subscribed resource that is accessible both on and off campus, simply append the proxy prefix to the front of the resource link.

BECOMES
https://proxy.lib.miamioh.edu/login?url=http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5951/mathteacher.108.5.0376
Do NOT put the prefix on the front of MUL re-direct URLs (http://www.lib.miamioh.edu/indexes/redirect/). Re-direct URLs automatically push the patron through the proxy without the prefix.

Off-Campus Access to E-Resources
MUL e-resources can be accessed by off-campus students via the library's proxy server (download a 1-page PDF summary of this information)
Proxy Server
All students should be instructed to access library e-resources through the proxied links found in the library catalog, A to Z lists, and LibGuides.
The proxy prefix is https://proxy.lib.miamioh.edu/login?url=
You can add the proxy prefix to any subscribed e-resource link to ensure off-campus access.
Proxied links look like this:
https://proxy.lib.miamioh.edu/login?url=http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5951/mathteacher.108.5.0376
Re-Direct URLs
Re-direct URLs that begin with:
http://www.lib.miamioh.edu/indexes/
Do NOT require the proxy prefix.
These URLs automatically push patrons through proxy authentication without the prefix.
LibGuides: Direct URL with Proxy Prefix
- Use the URL that goes directly to the resource.
- Add the proxy prefix "https://proxy.lib.miamioh.edu/login?url=" to the front of the link.
- Click the DISABLED button next to the "Proxy" entry in the link editing box (see below).
LibGuides: Direct URL & ENABLE Proxy
- Use the URL that goes directly to the resource.
- Click the ENABLED button next to the "Proxy" entry in the link editing box.
