What is a scholarly article?

A scholarly article, sometimes also called a peer-reviewed, refereed or academic article, is written by an expert and contains in-depth research. Many articles with this designation have gone through the peer review process, meaning they have been evaluated by other experts in the field for accuracy before publication. 

Databases - Scholarly Articles

The best place to start your search for a scholarly article is from the Libraries' homepage, www.lib.miamioh.edu. Use the "Articles & More" tab. After your search results load, check the box for "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" to limit your results to scholarly articles. This searches all 100+ EBSCOhost databases that the Libraries subscribe to. Academic Search Complete is one of those EBSCOhost databases, which you can also search individually (see link below).
