Research and Writing Resources

One way to prevent academic dishonesty is to know when to get help with the research process. Here are some campus resources that you may want to consult when you find that you are stuck.

The Miami University Library's Ask Us Service
If you are struggling with research, you can come to the help desk of any of the branches of the Miami University Libraries' system. You can also talk to us through chat, text, e-mail, or phone.
Research Guides
Your librarians have created subject guides to help you do research in the disciplines offered on campus, as well as other subjects related to research (such as this guide). If you are taking a class on a specific subject and are unsure where to find good resources, find the relevant guide to help you locate books, articles, websites, and more.
Academic Search Complete
This popular database is a great place to start your research because of the great variety of topics and resources included. You can find scholarly journal articles, popular magazine articles, and newspapers.

It covers virtually all academic areas of study, including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.
Howe Center for Writing Excellence
One reason students procrastinate is because it's easy to become nervous about writing a research paper. The Writing Center can help you with all the steps of your paper. They can help you with brainstorming, drafting, revising or polishing your paper.
Rinella Learning Center
Rinella Learning Center can be really helpful early in the research process. They offer workshops to help you improve your study habits and to help with time management. You can also check out their tutoring services if you are struggling with the subject matter of a course.
