Academic Search Complete - A good general database for finding articles from magazines & journals. Daily Life Through History - Collection of books and essays that examine the daily life (customs, culture, material culture, etc.) of different historical periods and places.

JSTOR - Covers a wide range of full-text scholarly content, academic journals, primary sources, and e-books, across a wide range of subject areas.
