The Libraries Get It Now article delivery service pilot project went live on 9/24/14.
How it works:
If a patron links to our link resolver menu (via the Find It! button) for a journal article for which we do not have full text access at Miami
and
the article is available for rapid delivery through Copyright Clearance Center's Get It Now service, a new option will show in the Find It menu in addition to Interlibrary Loan.
Get it Now promises delivery within 8 hours of the request (typically it takes approximately 2 hours). We will on average pay higher per article fees for this service than we do for interlibrary loan; we're essentially paying a premium for the improved turnaround time.
The service relies on already-validated citation information, so it is only available for library e-resources where you see the Find It button.
Users will need to supply an active miamioh.edu email address for the service. During the pilot project, the service will be available to any Miami student, staff, and faculty. There is a 3 article per 8 hour period maximum for each user.
Please note:
While the CCC has partnered with many publishers, they do not offer access to every journal title currently published.
A list of participating publishers is available on the Get It Now site.
