ARTstor

As of August 1, 2024 ARTstor and Jstor have merged. If you run a search in Jstor and it will return images alongside articles and books. You can limit your results to only images by using the images tab above the main search bar.

For a full list of videos that will help you search for, share, and compare images, as well as work with images in ARTstor's workspace, please see Jstor's YouTube page.

Downloading a Single Image

  • There are two ways to download images
    • To download the full image
      • Click on the down arrow to the right of the image title in a thumbnail search.
      • The full image will download to your downloads folder.
    • To download an image detail
      • If you want a detailed view, make sure to have zoomed in on the image. Whatever is in the image portion of the screen is what will download.
      • A full image will also download. These images (the detail and the full image) will be in a zip file.

Creating Presentations

Creating a presentation from a folder is easy.

  • Go to the folder by clicking the Workspace link. You can find it on the top right of Jstor's homepage.
  • Click on the folder with the images you want to present.
  • Click the Present link.
  • A presentation will open in full screen mode.

Once you are in presentation mode:

  • Cick "show item details" at the bottom of the screen for image metatdata (artist, title, and date).
  • Click "compare" to compare the image to other images saved in your folders.
  • Zoom in and out with the controls at the top right of the screen.

Exporting a Folder to PowerPoint or PDF

It's easy to export an entire folder to PowerPoint, with all of the metadata for the images included in the Notes field.

  • Go to the folder you wish to export.
  • Click on the three dots next to the folder's title.
  • A pop up window will appear. From here you can export the folder, add a description, etc.

You can also download to PDF, among a variety of other options.
