Maker Scholarship: Home

This guide contains information on how the Makerspace can be incorporated into courses. It also contains a variety of learning modules on topics related to making and innovation.

Maker Scholarship

What is Maker scholarship? Maker scholarship is the process of using hands-on creation (physical or digital) as a learning tool. Makerspace projects can be implemented in all types of courses as a means of engaging students, exploring technology, and developing a host of non-cognitive skills.

For some examples of ways that makerspace technology can be implemented in courses, take a look at the Maker Literacies Project at the University of Texas Arlington. They provide a library of curriculum integrations that cover a broad range of subjects.

The learning modules in this guide can be used by faculty as ways to incorporate maker scholarship into their courses, or by individual students who are interested in learning these topics.

To find modules in Canvas Commons, filter by "Miami University", and search "Makerspace". You can import modules directly into your Canvas courses!
